The arrival of the new year signals opportunity for a fresh start! As that pertains to interior decorating, after a decade of grey and white rooms, 2024 brings with it a return to stylish and moody colors, YAY! The colors trending for this year have me asking "Which walls will I be painting first?" Neutrals are cozier, Modern Colors are warmer, and Contemporary pallets have a playful energy that evokes a sense of wonder and joy! I'm diving into this movement head first!

Since moving to Ball Ground in 2003, we have personalized our living room, offices, secondary bedrooms, and kitchen but, as is the case with most parents, we did not make ourselves our first priority. Now that we are nearly empty nesters, we have decided it's time to make our bedroom as beautiful and storied as the rest of our home. I will be sharing updates of that project with you once a month through April.
These colors aren't just about trends; they're about creating a happy place at home. The three I chose for our master suite redesign are Persimmon by HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams, Natural Linen by Sherwin-Williams, and Ironside by Dutch Boy. It's all about creating a comfortable sanctuary that restores and refreshes.
This color reminds me of rod iron fences surrounding New York City gardens and parks. I love it's deep green with black undertones that make it feel both commanding and accommodating all at once. Like a military officer's jacket, or the generous fronds of a Christmas tree. I can't wait to see how glass knobs look against it on our vanity.

Like all neutrals, Natural linen is simple and soothing. It doesn't demand any attention, but like great base makeup on a beautiful woman it is an elegant, clean foundation for beautiful things. For that reason, it won't be limited to just our master suite project, but will be freshening up our living room, upstairs hall and entry as well. It is a classy color for open concept floor plans, allowing stair rails, moldings and art to be the stars of the show.

Persimmon is going to refresh our water closet, and brighten our bedroom in the form of sunrise colored florals and accessories. It is in the same color family as the ballet shoes I adored in my childhood, exuding a feminine, cheerful, and inviting vibe. Its soft terra-cotta hue evokes a sense of hope for the future.

Embracing this year's colors of the year is like inviting a burst of joy and comfort into our homes. I hope you enjoy these uplifting shades, and will try a few to create a personal space that not only reflects the latest trends but also nurtures your well-being. Here's to a year filled with color, joy, and endless possibilities!
